Administrative Associate

Parks & People is seeking an experienced professional to support all aspects of administration for the smooth daily management of a fast-moving, mission-driven not-for-profit organization. We seek candidates with a record of managing internal service and support needs and delivery of services and products to support the public image of the Foundation. The selected candidate will be responsible, detail-oriented and proactive with the ability to represent Parks & People in a friendly and enthusiastic manner.

The Administrative Associate is a member of the Executive division and serves as the first point of contact for visitors to the Foundation and the primary point of support to the President & CEO and the Board of Directors.  Responsibilities include scheduling for the President & CEO and coordinating rental arrangements for events held on campus.

Requirements:

  • College or community college level degree; certification from vocational school and/or 2 years of functional experience providing mid-to-high level administrative support
  • Exceptional people-skills needed to build and maintain relationships with organizational leadership and external stakeholders
  • A can-do, collaborative spirit and a sense of humor
  • Experience with multi-tasking, problem solving and maintaining confidentiality
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office along with basic computer skills and high accuracy data entry ability

Preference will be given to candidates who have education or professional training in organizational administration.

Staff Accountant

Parks & People is seeking an experienced professional to support the reporting and accuracy of financial information.  We seek candidates who can be responsible for providing financial, administrative and operational assistance to support the financial aspects of programs, projects and operations.

The Staff Accountant is a member of the Finance division and assists in the preparation and maintenance of records, documents and data for public and private grants.  Responsibilities include performing month end closing, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.

Requirements:

  • Associates degree in bookkeeping/accounting or equivalent experience
  • Basic knowledge of accounting, invoicing, journal entry, data tracking, budget projections and payroll processing
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs, notably Microsoft Excel
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous experience with accounting software, preferably Abila MIP or another non-profit software
  • Excellent communication, filing, organizing, and team work skills
  • Positive people skills and team player mentality
  • Good time-management skills
  • Ability to carry out multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Creative capacity to develop and improve operations and administrative systems

Volunteer Coordinator

Parks & People is seeking a professional to support the volunteer management efforts of the Foundation.  The Volunteer Coordinator is a member of the Programs division who assesses the organizational need and capacity for volunteers, creates volunteer positions to support program and engagement needs, and oversees all aspects of volunteer recruitment, management, tracking and recognition.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of environmental education, service learning, and volunteer management
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and proficiency in computer systems
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations
  • Highly-developed people skills needed to organize and motivate community volunteers
  • Knowledge of partner agencies and their role
  • Positive people skills and ability to organize and motivate volunteers and professionals
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to carry out multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to analyze problems, synthesize information and develop solutions which support Parks & People’s mission
  • Must be able to utilize data as a tool to make strategic and timely decisions regarding program effectiveness and impact
  • Able to conduct activities in accordance with guidelines

Preference will be given to candidates with a Bachelor’s degree or 2 years of experience in volunteer management, and those who have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle during working hours.
