Ribbon cutting for the brand new Salem St. Community Park!

Salem Street in Penn-North underwent a major revival. The new Salem Street Community Park replaces blighted vacant lots and breathes fresh life into the heart of this block. The new park includes: flat green space for gathering and recreation, flowering trees and landscaping, a street mural, walking paths, boulders for seating, and fencing. Parks & People has been working with the community and our trusted partners to deliver a positive, safe, and multi-generational community park space.

This is just the beginning for Salem St. Community Park; currently one of the neighborhood associations Unified Efforts is raising money to build a children’s community center in place of another vacant lot— unifiedefforts.org if you would like to donate!

Church and community groups have already begun utilizing this beautiful community asset.

Thank you to our crucial partners and funders: Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, Kentfields Foundation, West Baltimore Renaissance Foundation, Baltimore Community Foundation, Baltimore City Department of Housing & Community Development, Baltimore City Department of Planning, Senator Antonio Hayes, Councilman James Torrence, Gethsemane Baptist Church, Unified Efforts, and The New Pennsylvania Ave Neighborhood Association.
