Communications Intern

  • Parks & People is seeking a talented and self-motivated Communications and Design Contractor to join our team. As an independent contractor, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our organization’s brand presence, engaging our audience, and driving our mission forward. Your expertise in both communications and design will be essential for creating compelling content and promoting our initiatives.

  • Content Creation: Develop engaging written content for various channels, including social media, newsletters, blog posts, and website updates.

    Collaborate with team members to create consistent messaging that aligns with our brand voice and values.


    Social Media Marketing: Manage our social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).

    Create and schedule content, monitor engagement, and analyze performance metrics.

    Implement social media campaigns to raise awareness, drive traffic, and engage our community.


    Graphic Design: Design visually appealing graphics for social media posts, email campaigns, and promotional materials.

    Ensure brand consistency across all visual assets.

    Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) is required.


    Email Marketing: Craft compelling email campaigns, newsletters, and announcements.

    Segment and target audiences effectively.

    Monitor open rates, click-through rates, and optimize email content.


    Event Promotion: Assist in promoting events, webinars, workshops, and fundraisers.

    Create event banners, flyers, and promotional materials.


    Analytics and Reporting: Track and analyze performance metrics for communications efforts.

    Provide regular reports on social media engagement, website traffic, and email campaign effectiveness.

  • Qualifications:


    • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or related field (or equivalent experience).

    • Proven experience in social media management, content creation, and graphic design.

Community Garden Intern

  • As a Community Garden Intern, you will play a key role in supporting the operations and community engagement initiatives of our organization's community garden program. Counselor in Training

    • Hands-On Experience: Assist counselors in leading activities, guiding campers in recreational and educational programs, and fostering a supportive and inclusive camp environment.

Park Project Intern

  • Park project intern gains valuable hands-on experience in urban planning, environmental conservation, community engagement, and project management within the context of public recreational spaces. The role offers opportunities to learn about the complexities of park development while contributing to enhancing public amenities and community well-being.

  • Major Responsibility: The Parks Intern - Design & Construction serves as a Part time Internship position within the Park Projects division, supporting the Parks Team in various aspects of park development and construction projects. This role plays a crucial part in facilitating project design, management, construction, compliance, sustainability efforts, and community engagement activities. This is an 11-week part-time internship with an anticipated 24-hour weekly workload.

    The position offers a hybrid work style, with Tuesdays and Wednesdays in-office, and one additional remote work day. The internship will start on June 10, 2024, and run through August 30, 2024.

  • Pursuing a degree in architecture, landscape architecture, construction management, or related field. • At least 1 year of relevant experience in project management or related field. • Experience working with community groups and government agencies preferred. • Knowledge of construction regulations and requirements. • Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail. • Proficiency in MS Office software. • Strong time management skills to handle multiple deadlines. • Exceptional interpersonal skills for building and maintaining relationships. • Ability to analyze problems, synthesize information, and develop solutions. • Willingness to work beyond standard business hours and weekends when required. • This role provides an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about park development and community engagement to gain valuable experience and contribute to the mission of Parks & People.
