Harlem Avenue Pocket Park Ribbon Cutting
On November 15, 2024, Parks & People cut the ribbon on the Harlem Avenue Pocket Park in the Upton neighborhood of West Baltimore. The pocket park at 833-837 Harlem Avenue is a transformative community enhancement project designed to infuse new energy into the neighborhood by creating vibrant, multi-use greenspace. This park, a part of the greater Upton Community revival, contains a gated dog park, walking paths, trees, planters, and strategically placed boulders to enhance the area’s natural beauty.
In partnership with the Upton Planning Committee, Parks & People built this park to revitalize not just a space once occupied by vacant buildings but to help revitalize the community itself. Funded by the State of Maryland’s Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) Community Opportunity for Restoration and Enhancement (Project C.O.R.E.) initiative and Wells Fargo, this project reflects a shared commitment to neighborhood revitalization.
